Poolewe in Wester Ross
Poolewe is famous for the Inverewe Garden along with wonderful scenery and views over Loch Ewe. Poolewe is on the north west coast of Highland Scotland; looking at a map of Scotland find Inverness then look to over to the west coast and find Loch Maree. Poolewe is then easy to find as the River Ewe runs the short distance from Loch Maree into Loch Ewe at the village of Poolewe.
The area is rich in wildlife with otters and dolphins often seen in Loch Ewe and the surrounding area of Wester Ross.

Inverewe Garden has many semi-tender ornamental plants growing in Scottish Highlands.
The garden benefits from the Gulf Stream which helps keep the area warmer than would be expected for its latitude. The area does experience high winds, especially during the winter months and the garden and estate was planted with conifers to provide a shelterbelt and this in turn created micro-climates where semi-tender plants would thrive.
